Raleigh, NC, January 2, 2020 -- Today, the Open Compute Project (OCP) Incubation Committee (IC) has formally recognized PCX’s collaborative FLX-MDC™ 90kw Modular Data Center (MDC) as an OCP Accepted™ product. The MDC, which is the first to be developed directly with feedback from 24 OCP affiliated organizations, will officially carry the OCP Accepted™ icon and has been invited to join the OCP Marketplace.
As an OCP Accepted™ product, the FLX-MDC™ 90kw MDC complies 100% with the submitted Standalone 90KW Modular Data Center specification that the IC committee has previously approved. In line with the approved specification, the accepted FLX-MDC™ 90kw product has been exhibited, while having met at least three of the OCP’s four core tenets of efficiency, scalability, openness and impact. In addition, the committee requires the product’s design files must continually exist as open source and be available to the public.
The FLX-MDC™ 90kw , which is PCX’s industry first “all-in-one” open solution, was officially unveiled on September 27, 2019, at the OCP Regional Summit in Amsterdam. The new MDC will provide clients the freedom and flexibility to scale their total capacity IT-load from 90 kilowatts, after initial deployment, and allow them to integrate a wide variety of vendor specific components at each stage in the process. With this specification, and the approved product recognition, PCX aims to provide an open solution to allow all clients to optimize their data center freely, based on their unique needs.
A comprehensive digital reference sheet for the new FLX-MDC™ 90kw MDC can be downloaded here. Included within the reference sheet is the MDC’s layout, a list of components and relative pricing. In addition, technical specifications included with the reference sheet list the MDC’s total capacity IT-Load, the number of racks included, the average and maximum density of the racks deployed, internal and external dimensions, and module weight.
