PCX to Release 2020 OCP Global Summit Presentation

Raleigh, NC – March 4, 2020 -- PCX announced today the company will be releasing their 2020 Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit presentation online at a future date, with an accompanying interview, to detail and discuss modular data center solutions and the impact modular has on end-users, vendors and engineers. The global summit, which was to be held March 4th and 5th in San Jose, CA, was cancelled, due to the threat of the COVID-19 virus, as the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and urges individuals to take safe, necessary precautions.

The cancelled 2020 OCP Global Summit was to focus on highlighting open source innovations and solutions, which are made possible by open collaboration between companies that seek to discuss their challenges, ideologies and intentions that drive their industries forward. Rob Coyle, PCX’s Sales and Marketing Director, was slated to host an open discussion on “What Defines a Modular Data Center” and present a design package submission for PCX’s industry-collaborative “all-in-one” FLX-MDC™ 90kw Modular Data Center, on March 5th. Instead, Coyle seeks to share PCX’s lessons learned, the solutions the company has developed and procure feedback from the community that can help to improve PCX’s building of their digital infrastructure, through the digitally published presentation slides and accompanying interview.

Coyle states the presentation and interview will emphasize PCX’s process for creating an open design and solution, while encouraging other representatives to participate and submit their own solutions to the OCP committee. “Now that PCX has an OCP approved design in place, we can share our journey and pitfalls to make it easier on others to contribute,” said Coyle. “I believe there is a great value for the audience in sharing a company’s experience.”

In addition, Coyle believes that even though the OCP Global Summit has been cancelled, publishing the presentation and interview online continues to emphasize inclusiveness, while helping to bring together a host of representatives in a variety of spaces, to learn about and discuss factors related to modular data center innovation and its effect on companies within the construction and IT industries. “It doesn’t matter if you work on chips, software, telco racks, etc.,” said Coyle. “You have a perspective that we value and want to learn more about. Even if you feel like your company is a competitor, we are publishing to share, learn and solve together.
