PCX Ships New, More Efficient UPS Data Center Skids

Raleigh, NC – September 30, 2020 – PCX announced today that the company has completed shipment on a new, more efficient uninterruptible power supply skid (UPS) for one of the leading electrical and industrial power management corporations, which will replace aging skids for one of the world’s largest computer software providers. The skid was developed, integrated, and tested over a 12-week span, and then stored until shipment to the corporation, to ensure the end-client could receive the skid system when their schedule allowed. The skid, which features the corporation’s branded switchboard, their branded uninterruptible power supply UPS and two lithium ion battery cabinets, will ensure the client has a constant, reliable source of back-up power for their commissioned mission critical project.

This most recent shipment of the uninterruptible power supply skid is part of an ongoing effort from PCX and the electrical and industrial power management corporation, in which PCX has delivered 15 total skids over the past 18 months. The recently shipped skids were developed to replace previous PCX integrated skids that are currently aging out and had footprint constraints. The original skids were too compact to meet the client’s current specifications, and these new replacement skids were developed to meet strict size requirements while incorporating new equipment not utilized on the previous skid design.

PCX application engineer Anthony Parrish states both the electrical and power management corporation, and PCX, worked in-tandem to develop, engineer and provide a more efficient solution to meet the end-client’s specifications. “Our two companies worked in unison to develop a 3D model of a compact skid to fit within the customer’s allowed physical space,” said Parrish. “All factory integrated conduits are installed within a tight tolerance of the 3D model to avoid any conflicts when the site contractor field installs conduits and the cable tray.”
